A Brave New Year

*yawn* so another year is here.
So more resolutions to be made and left unachieved by February?

Often times we see people post;

"2015 please be good"

Or

"Oh plase let 2015 be better than 2014"

What nonsense is this?

Why would we want 2015 to be better towards us? A new year is just a transition between one period of time to another. Like 2 o'clock to 3 o'clock. Just that. It has neither emotion nor power to do anythinf to you.

Instead, we should be better than last year or the year before.

I just cant tolerate this idiotic gestures. No it is NOT cute at all.

Seriously, and as for your resolutions, look at it this way, do you have something that you have been wanting to achieve but up until now you have not achieved it?

Work towards it. Get it. Don't go around making journals after journals of resolutions that will end up being nothing but words.

If you have a physical related resolution, be realistic. If you know you are tenfold lazier than a Snorlax, choose an attainable goal.

Example.
Don't : I want to lose 150kg and become a supermodel.
Do: I will lose 5 to 10 kilos in the first 6 months and try to lose more in months to come.

That is more attainable no?

If your aim is far, at one point you will just give up. Choose a closer target and challenge yourself to reach that other check point.

If your resolution is more of behavioural, choose something solid rather than an abstract one.

Example:
Don't : I will sleep early everyday.
Do: I will sleep at least an hour earlier each month. For the next 4 months.

Something like that lah.

A lot of us are too excited to make new resolutions for the sake of bragging or for show.
If you don't think you can't commit, then don’t make any.

Just like me.

Anyways.

Happy new year and may we be better and happier people this year.
